Adventures in Food
What is it?
Everyone was shocked when this dish appeared on our first night in Venice. We had just eaten the pasta course (spaghetti with mussels and tiny shrimp) and assumed dinner was over. Suddenly, the entree entered: a langoustine with calamari. Cross-cultural discussions ensued (What is it? How do you eat it? Rip off its head!)
Morning break during a walking tour of sultry Venice: refreshing limonata (actually lemonade, not lime)
We've also enjoyed lovely cappuccinos in Italy, various local pastries like apple strudel in Germany and croissants everywhere, from plain to filled to sprinkled with chocolate. Did you know the croissant did not originate in France? Guesses are welcome. No Googling allowed.
More fun with food and beverages to come.
I'm going to guess the middle east on croissants, but I have no idea. I would like to try an aperol spritz! Still wondering how a vegetarian would do - I think I would not eat as well as you have. But the sweets look amazing!
