The Adventure Begins in Haarlem (yes, it's spelled right)

After a lazy breakfast of local baked delicacies, coutesy of Mary's early morning foray to transact business with a real Dutch shopkeeper, Guido and Kelly kindly drove us to meet our tour group in Haarlem.

The tour and the rain started simultaneously, at the feet of the heroes of Haarlem (something to do with Spanish soldiers) .  Note the hotel in the background.  That is where we are staying.
Mary made sure I got a shot of the red light district.
The Grote Kerk (Big Church) that was originally built to be St. Bavo's but was commandeered by the Protestants
Enjoying a tasting of genever - a pre-gin spirit developed by Belgians (according to our not-necessarily-objective Belgian tour guide)
The middle one - our favorite - is kept in the freezer
Indonesian food with some of our fellow travelers

Tomorrow: Amsterdam
