 I am so excited to be traveling with my sister Christine again.  May 24, 2023 is just around the corner and the first stop is Greece!  This is our Rick Steves Tour route.

    I can't believe it's almost here! The semester is over and it's time to pack my bags. I'm sure Mary has been ready for weeks :) Good thing she plans ahead and figures out where we should go. I'm excited to go along for the ride.

Not sure why, but I feel compelled to take photos of practically every new flower I see on my travels. Here are some blooms we noticed during our Switzerland adventures. (I asked PlantNet what they probably are.) Beautiful garden in Mürren Garden lupine Lupinus polyphyllus High up on the peak of the Schilthorn, these grow and bloom on the rocky mountainside. Headed South to the Mediterranean

  Day 8: Ancient Aspendos Sat, May 02, 2026 We'll begin our day with a tour through Konya, including the busy maze of its sprawling bazaar — a time-tripping treasure trove of hardware, household items, clothing, jewelry, religious paraphernalia, and cell phone accessories. Then we'll head over the Taurus Mountains and stop to visit Aspendos, one of the best-preserved Roman theaters of the ancient world. In the late afternoon we'll arrive in the Mediterranean resort town of Antalya, where we'll take an orientation walk and set you free for dinner on your own. The following 7 pictures were from the Aspendos site, from 160AD. First 4 are from the theatre and the last 2 were from the walk I took I. Salzburg and Sound of Music

 Friday September 29 2023. - touring Salzburg.  Before the brief history, I will give you a run down of what we did in Salzburg.  Thursday night, we just toured around the city for an hour, then went out to dinner in old town Salzburg and had Wiener schnitzel.  Friday was a full day.  We started with a guided tour of the city for 2-3 hours.  Then we had a cooking class to make Apple strudel, then ate lunch, was entertained by a young singer and waited for the strudel to cook.  After that, myself and another couple from the tour went on a 3.5 hour, 15km, bike ride to see all of the Sound of music sights that were accessible around town.  After that, dinner and Mozart concert up at the castle/fortress on the hill.  Hopefully, some good pictures wi follow.   The name Salzburg means salt castle, and the town was established because it was on the main salt trading route.  Back then, not only was salt used for preserving, but it was used ...
